Orb – the grass ball
Orb is a grass ball that dangles
from the ceiling. The ball is covered
in grass mats. The dried grass is fixed with clear varnish and stretches
out in all directions.
Material
A polystyrene ball is covered in dried real grass mats. The dried grass is fixed with clear
varnish and stretches out in all directions. The roots intertwine with a base mesh and
form a joint area. The grass is conserved by the special technique of drying. The grass
needs no further maintenance.
Transformation
The grass changes its colour from dark green to straw-colour. Depending on the incidence
of light – artificial or daylight – the colours can take up to two years to change.
After three to four years, the appearance of the grass hardly changes any further. If the
grass bends down, the Orb can be turned up side down and fixed to the bail on the
other side of the ball
